Twenty-first Century: from a clinical point of view, a large number of mild and moderate patients have been cured or cured by traditional Chinese medicine or integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. How to view the unique advantages of TCM in epidemic prevention and control?

Zhai Meiqing: Chinese medicine played a major role in the prevention and treatment of the new crown pneumonia. Chinese medicine prevents and communicable diseases, pays attention to strengthening the body's own resistance and repair ability, and pays attention to maintaining the overall balance. This makes Chinese medicine have its own role in dealing with infectious diseases with unclear etiology, lack of vaccines and special drugs, and provides different prevention strategies. Zhai Meiqing: from the perspective of the new crown prevention and treatment effect, Chinese and Western medicine have their own strengths. In the treatment of the new coronavirus pneumonia, a series of new classical treatment schemes, such as Qingfei detoxification decoction, which was popularized by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, and the "pneumonia No. 1" recommended by the Guangdong provincial drug administration have achieved remarkable results. Clinical data and cases show that Chinese medicine plays a very important role in relieving symptoms, delaying or reducing the development of mild illness and becoming a severe disease.

Exploring a new model of TCM development

Is this a simple way to evaluate the practice of traditional Chinese medicine by using the criteria of pathology and diagnostics of Western medicine?

Zhai Meiqing: Chinese medicine has its own standard and evaluation system. It is definitely not objective and unscientific to evaluate Chinese medicine simply by western medicine. In fact, in the treatment of the new coronavirus pneumonia, Chinese medicine played a significant role and had a significant effect.

Zhai Meiqing: Chinese medicine has played a huge role in the prevention and control of the new crown disease. It can be said that the Chinese people have a chance to re recognize the role of Chinese medicine. Therefore, in my proposal, I suggest that we should take this epidemic prevention and control as an opportunity to explore a suitable development mode for Chinese medicine and improve the operation and management mechanism that is conducive to the development of Chinese medicine.

One is to carry out academic discussions on the development of traditional Chinese medicine, reform the management system of Chinese medicine, and make top-level design for the development of Chinese medicine, so that Chinese medicine can enjoy the same academic status and policy management status as western medicine.

The two is to carry out experiments in large and medium sized hospitals in different regions and scales. The diagnosis and treatment by traditional Chinese medicine theory is not simply to use the pathology and diagnostics of Western medicine, and to explore effective Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment system.

The three is to formulate the scientific standard of Chinese medicine and make it gradually become the only standard followed by the international community and lay the world status of Chinese medicine.
