Obama claimed that there was a huge trade surplus between the US presidential candidate and China on the 29th. "China must change its policies (including its exchange rate policy) in order to reduce its dependence on exports and rely more on the growth of domestic domestic demand," Obama said in a letter to the Council of the national textile industry organization released on the 29th Obama said he would use all diplomatic means to change China. The BBC reports that China's exchange rate policy has always been a concern for the US textile industry and other industries. Obama had previously played the Chinese card when competing with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential candidate, saying that China manipulated the exchange rate. Some US Congressmen have similar accusations against China. However, a report released in mid May by the US Treasury Department pointed out that the Chinese government had not manipulated the exchange rate. This is after the end of last year, the United States once again excluded China from exchange rate manipulation.
