In 2011, the total output value of light industry textile industry reached 26 billion 990 million yuan, an increase of 12.2% over the same period last year.

The layout of light industry and textile industry tends to be rational, and the agglomeration effect is obvious. Among them, speeding up the construction of the textile economic zone is becoming a new engine for the Binhai New Area Economy; the high-tech textile industrial park has been built up to form a cluster and intensive textile.

The industrial chain, technical equipment, production technology and product quality all reach the advanced level in the world. The construction of the airport seagull Industrial Park will be the second largest international watch and precision processing industrial base after the Swiss mechanical watches.

Binhai New Area is one of the important petrochemical industrial bases in China. It has sufficient raw materials for the upstream petrochemical industry.

With the construction of the Textile Economic Zone, the upstream raw materials of the new petrochemical industry will be pported to the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, and the situation of products being pported back to the north will be completely changed.

Petrochemical raw materials will be "squeezed clean" in the new area, forming a complete industrial chain of "oil head - Avatar - Textile tail", which not only reduces the cost of pportation raw materials, but also increases the added value of the industry.

Zhang Sumin pointed out that the main challenges facing the development of light industry and textile industry in Binhai New Area include constant rising factor costs.

More intense, more competitive core technology, and obvious advantages of southern light textile industry.

In the face of the above challenges, the plan puts forward the support of science and technology innovation and technological pformation to enhance traditional industries such as textile industry. In order to improve economic efficiency, we should cultivate new industries such as industrial textiles and light textile new materials, and focus on the integration of the two technologies so as to improve the quality and efficiency of the textile industry's growth.

According to the plan, by 2015, the output value of the textile industry will reach 27 billion yuan, which will account for more than 50% of the light industry and textile industry in the new area.

Focusing on this goal, we will focus on the development of composite materials based on synthetic fibers and chemical fiber materials, widely used in aerospace, medical and health, building engineering and other fields, and encourage the development of industries for automobiles, new energy sources, environmental protection and fisheries.
