The responsible person said in October 25th that GDP can not fully reflect the social cost of economic growth, and the current GDP statistics still have defects.

The person in charge said, first of all, GDP reflected in a certain period of new increase of the final products and services, the past wealth did not reflect, can not cover all aspects of the economy, society, and the environment.

As well as the destruction and pollution of the environment, we can not accurately reflect the quality of economic growth.

Third, GDP can not fully reflect the social welfare level of a region or a country, such as income distribution or income gap, as well as people's life and leisure problems.

The National Bureau of Statistics says that although there are no other indicators that can replace the status and role of GDP, other comprehensive indicators can be used to make up for the limitations of GDP.

The responsible person said that in recent years, the China Statistical Society, including some experts and scholars from domestic research institutes, tertiary institutions and government departments in the Institute of statistical science, has studied the "comprehensive development index" (CDI), trying to design a set of index systems that can comprehensively and comprehensively reflect the development of the region, including six aspects, namely, economic development, improvement of people's livelihood, social development, ecological construction, technological innovation and public evaluation.

CDI comprehensively appraise the development of a region from various aspects.

Among them, the three indicators of household income, GDP, Gini coefficient and income ratio of urban and rural residents reflect the income distribution, and the indicators of urban and rural residents' income and Engel coefficient are used to reflect the quality of life.

This is better than simply using GDP to reflect the standard of living.
