Latin American Countries

Chile's Ministry of foreign affairs Trade Promotion Bureau held its first Latin American and Asia Pacific Economic and Trade Fair in Iquique, Chile, 29.

During the meeting, the representatives of Latin American countries expressed great importance to developing economic and trade cooperation with China.

Luis Riveros, executive director of the Asia Latin American Research Center of University of Chile, pointed out in his speech that the driving force of world economic development is moving from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore in the Asia Pacific region are important trading partners of Chile and other Latin American countries, of which China is particularly critical.

He also said that Latin American exports to China and other Asian countries are still dominated by raw materials. Latin American countries should increase exports of processed products and high value-added products.

Hugo Berlin, foreign trade manager of Chilean Industrial Development Association, said that for Latin American countries, China means huge trade opportunities.

For example, although China is a big exporter of shoes in the world, it imports a large number of world famous brand shoes every year.

In this field, Latin America has both raw materials and technology, and is fully capable of seizing such opportunities.

He also believes that the vast market of China, the vast majority of Latin American countries in a certain field of export volume can not meet the needs of the Chinese market, Latin American countries in the export of China should be "united".

Entrepreneurs and government officials from Latin American countries such as Chile, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and other Asian Pacific countries and regions such as China, Japan, Korea and New Zealand attended the Latin American and Asia Pacific Economic and trade fair.
