Bilateral Trade Volume Between Brazil And Argentina Has Declined Significantly Since 2009
Figures show that in the first two months of this year, Brazil's export to Argentina was only 1.33 billion US dollars, down 46.5% over the same period last year; Argentina's export to Brazil was only 1.27 billion US dollars, down 41.1% year on year.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil said on the same day that Argentina's recent trade protection measures had affected about 10% of Brazil's traditional exports to Afghanistan.
With the rise of trade protectionism caused by the global financial crisis, Brazil and Argentina have recently had a series of trade disputes, and bilateral economic and trade relations have suddenly become tense.
In mid February, the Foreign Ministers of Brazil and Argentina announced that they would set up a working group to resolve bilateral trade disputes.
