The Export Of Jordan'S Clothing Industry Is Faced With Many Challenges, Which Exported US $500 Million To The US In The First Half Year.

Mohammed Klose, President of the Egyptian clothing exporters association, said that the export of Jordan's clothing industry is facing many challenges.

In the context of rising local manufacturing costs and unstable government economic decisions, Jordan garment industry needs to maintain competitiveness in overseas markets and attract new investment.

Clothing exports to the United States amounted to $500 million, an increase of 1.6% over the previous year, compared with $492 million in the same period in 2011.

According to the free trade agreement between Jordan and the United States, Jordan's exports to the United States account for most of the 6 industrial areas in Jordan.

A study by Tufts University shows that the added value of Jordan's garment manufacturing industry is around 37%.

The export volume of the garment manufacturing industry ranks first in the total export volume of Jordan and becomes one of the most important industries in the country.

To cooperate with the Ministry of planning and international cooperation and related institutions to complete the implementation plan of -2013 in 2011, improve and develop the business environment, and plan to carry out the implementation development plan in some provinces.

The plan includes continuing attention to the achievements made at home and abroad, the link between the industrial sector and the support plan, and the plans and projects implemented by Jordan's UNIDO, aiming at increasing the export volume of the clothing and textile industry, especially the Jordanian export to the US market.

The plan will conduct monthly, quarterly and annual statistics on the garment and textile industry to solve a series of problems encountered by the industry and pay attention to the recruitment and use of labor force.

The labor force of the industry is about 7000; the number of labor forces in the Hassan industrial zone is about 15 thousand; the number of labor forces in the Ad-Dulayl Industrial Park is about 12 thousand; the number of labor forces in the Hussein Ben Abdullah II industrial city is about 2500; the number of labor forces in other parts of the country is about 8000.

Jordan's garment and textile industry can provide about 44 thousand and 500 jobs.

Any additional cost will directly lead to a 15%-20% increase in factory production costs.

Mohammed Klan called on the government not to make some decisions that undermine Jordan's competitiveness in the clothing industry.

Jordan's garment exports account for about 14% of Jordan's total exports.

He also said that the Jordanian exporters' Association should take part in the government's decision on the industry.

At present, the number of workers in Jordan's garment factories is 43 thousand, 27 thousand of the foreign workers employed in the qualified industrial zones, 16 thousand of the employed workers in the qualified industrial zones and outside the District, and 65% of the female workers.
