Li Xuehai, who was born in Guangzhou in 1948, worked as a production supervisor in Hongkong Changjiang garment factory in 1970 and studied at Hong Kong Polytech University. In 1981, he founded a multinational company, Witt group.
The group was named one of the largest 200 private companies in the greater New York region.
Li Xuehai was named Forbes one of the 25 most influential Chinese Americans in the US business in 2008.
